“... entrepreneurs have been the driving force for growth in countries around the world. Their ability to see opportunity, to see order amongst chaos where others see only issues, problems and disorganisation, has helped transform communities and economies.”

Sir Richard Branson

If you want Enterprise Development to be more than just points on your BBBEE scorecard, then this is the Web Site for you.

Although “small business development” has become a “buzzword” in South Africa and despite the fact that it is hoped that small business will save the economy and wipe out poverty amongst the masses, not much of this promise has been realised.

Due to the above observation, and due to past experiences identified in implementing small business development within South Africa, SMART intends to address these weaknesses and in to assist “big business” to view Enterprise Development as:

  • a low cost investment opportunity
  • a contribution to the development of entrepreneurs in South Africa and its people
  • a means to create employment opportunities, and a means of boosting a company’s empowerment rating

Enterprise Development
In terms of the BBBEE Codes of Good Practice, Enterprise Development aims to address key challenges facing small businesses, specifically black owned entities that struggle to take their business from survivalist or micro level to a level of sustainability and profitability. Enterprise Development is focused on addressing some of these key issues.
